Hi,
How come some of Non-Cancerous cases have Primary or Metastatic labels?

Saed

Hi Saed,
We apologize for any confusion. I believe this is a bit of a misnomer. As we continuously QC our models, we’ve found that some historical cancerous cell lines are actually more reflective of normal tissue rather than the cancer they were presumably taken from. However, we have maintained the metadata from the line in the portal. Therefore, if the sample was initially thought to be taken from a primary cancer, the metadata still says “primary.” Since this does cause confusion, is it something we can consider archiving.
Best,
Sam
