Clarification on Y-axis height within the same tumor type in expression plot

Hello,

I was analyzing a plot showing the expression of a gene (PHGR1) in LUAD and COAD cell lines, and I noticed that within each tumor type, the points (representing the cell lines) have varying heights along the Y-axis. I understand that the Y-axis differentiates between the two tumor types, but could you clarify what the difference in height represents within a single tumor type (LUAD or COAD)? Is it purely for visual separation, or does it carry any specific biological or technical meaning?

No, there is no biological or technical meaning in the y-values. The Y-values are jittered to avoid all points being plotted on top of one another. Purely for visual separation.

Thanks,
Phil
