Hello,

Is there a definitive statement on the data license attached to the CCLE metabolic datasets?

Most CCLE datasets are included in the public DepMap release, as as such are explicitly released under the CC-BY 4.0 license, however some files of the CCLE release (in particular metabolomics) do not appear to be included in the DepMap release.

When I click to download these files, I am pointed to the CCLE terms and conditions, which do not provide a clear statement on the license attached to the data. Rather they state that “The original data may be subject to rights claimed by third parties, including but not limited to, patent, copyright, other intellectual property rights, biodiversity-related access and benefit-sharing rights. It is the responsibility of users of Broad Institute services to ensure that their exploitation of the data does not infringe any of the rights of such third parties.”

Is is implied that all CCLE data is included in the DepMap’s CC-BY 4.0 license?

Thanks for this question Daniel.

We’re looking into whether we can clarify/simplify the license around all CCLE data to be consistent with the DepMap license. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.
