I was looking at the mutations section under Characterisation of the CACNA1D gene, and did not find that my cell line of interest had a mutated CACNA1D. However in the COSMIC database I did.
Is there any way of knowing if my cell lines of interest were sequenced and screened for mutations? If they were, is it normal for two sequencing datasets to disagree?
A cell line needs to have either WES or WGS data available in order for us to generate mutation calls. To see whether or not a cell line has mutation calls, you could navigate to the cell line page by searching the cell line name or ACH ID in the search bar at the top, and navigate to the “mutations” tab. If you see anything there at all, that suggests we do have mutation calls for it.
Another way of doing it programmatically is to download OmicsSomaticMutations.csv and check if there are any mutation calls from your cell line.
Our mutation calling and filtering pipeline may differ from the one used by COSMIC, which might attribute to any discrepancies you observe. For details on our mutation pipeline, please see:
