Merging the common_essentials list by entrez_id with the most recent HGNC monthly release (08-01-2021), it appears 27 gene symbols are out of date, with the most out of date being from April 2019. It would be appreciated if prior to the quarterly release gene symbols were updated against one of the more recent monthly HGNC releases if not the quarterly release itself.

We will update these from time to time in releases, but we do not plan to update gene symbols quarterly and in general advise users to rely on entrez IDs rather than symbols.
