# Can a threshold be set in the gene effect？

Can a threshold be set in the gene effect, below which the gene is considered an essential gene in the cell line?

Different screens are of different quality, and so rather than set a threshold on Gene Effect, we encourage people to use the Probability of Dependency values and set a threshold on that instead.
